Michelle Obama To Speak in Reno

At the invitation of Sen. Harry Reid, First Lady Michelle Obama will visit Reno to deliver the keynote address at the 2010 Women’s Summit.

When: Tuesday, June 1, 2010, 8 AM to 12:30 PM; Registration begins at 7 AM
Where: Grand Sierra Resort, Silver State Pavilion, 2500 E. 2nd St., Reno, NV

To be able to attend, you must purchase tickets in advance. You can do so online or by calling 775.789.2000 (toll free: 800.501.2651). Tickets will not be available at the door. The $25 registration includes breakfast.

Sen. Harry Reid will sponsor this event, along with CSADC, Grand Sierra Resort and Casino and Ormat. The event will feature local, state and national leaders as well as talented, motivated women from across Nevada. Speeches and roundtable discussions will inform women about improving their health, increasing financial literacy and making green choices in their lives.

One of those speeches will be delivered by the First Lady herself, Michelle Obama. And while she describes her highest priority as being Sasha and Malia’s mom, Michelle Obama brought to her role as First Lady a commitment to community service. As First Lady, she has launched the Let’s Move campaign, a program dedicated to reversing the trend of childhood obesity within a generation. This alliance of community leaders, teachers, healthcare professionals and parents will give support to parents; provide healthier food in schools; help kids increase their physical activity; and make healthy, affordable food available in every part of our country.

If you can find the time in your busy schedules, this is a summit you just might want to take the time to attend.
