  • RGJ on Catherine: “Cortez Masto would increase the range of Nevada viewpoints represented in the U.S. Senate. If elected, she would be Nevada’s first female senator and the nation’s first Latina senator.”
  • RGJ on Catherine: “While Nevada’s attorney general, she prioritized the fight against sex trafficking, an issue that largely affects women and girls.”
  • RGJ on Heck: “He generally sticks with his party even on partisan games of chicken that threaten to shut down the federal government, as with numerous votes against Planned Parenthood.

Catherine Cortez Masto for Senate released a new television ad today highlighting the Reno Gazette-Journal’s endorsement of Cortez Masto’s campaign. In their endorsement, the RGJ praised Cortez Masto’s record as Attorney General, noting “while Nevada’s Attorney General, she prioritized the fight against sex trafficking,” and that Catherine “would better ensure that more Nevadans have their concerns represented in the U.S. Senate.” The RGJ also criticized Congressman Joe Heck in its endorsement, referencing Heck threatening to shut down the federal government and his “numerous votes against Planned Parenthood.”

“As Nevada’s Attorney General, Catherine Cortez Masto worked with Republicans and Democrats to solve problems, and she’ll continue that record as our next Senator,” said Zach Hudson, spokesperson for Catherine Cortez Masto for Senate. “In contrast, Congressman Heck has been part of the problem in Washington, putting his party ahead of the interest of Nevadans. Joe Heck has voted ten times to defund Planned Parenthood, even threatening to shut down the federal government over it. The choice for Nevada voters is clear: Catherine Cortez Masto will be a bipartisan problem solver as our next Senator, while Congressman Joe Heck would continue to be a vote for more partisanship and gridlock in Washington.”
