Rep Joe Heck’s Birther Supporter Wayne Allyn Root Posts Sexist Tirade Against Alicia Machado

Joe Heck supporter and noted birther Wayne Allyn Root posted an offensive and crudely sexist Review-Journal column this weekend attacking Hillary Clinton and Alicia Machado, a former Miss Universe who Donald Trump bullied as “Miss Housekeeping” because she is Latina. Root cites a British tabloid and literally nothing else to defend Trump and labels Machado as a “porn star.”

Congressman Heck has a colorful history associating with birthers like Wayne Allyn Root, Donald Trump, Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Orly Taitz. Heck even said he agrees with Wayne Allyn Root that President Obama should “open up those records and let’s actually see how you matriculated and how you were able to afford going to an Ivy League school.”

“You can tell a lot about a person by who they choose to surround themselves with, and Congressman Heck is no exception,” said Mairead Lynn, spokesperson for the Nevada Democratic Party. “By choosing to associate with birthers and misogynists, Congressman Heck is telling Nevadans that questioning the legitimacy of the first African American president or degrading women is okay. Nevada needs leaders who call out bigotry and hatred, not those who campaign on it.

Donald Trump has escalated a shockingly offensive feud with disgusting personal attacks while Nevada Republicans refuse to denounce Trump’s disgusting behavior. In fact, Congressman Heck has “high hopes” for a Trump presidency, Congressman Hardy is still “100%” behind Trump and Congressman Amodei is thrilled to have signed on as the Chairman of Trump’s campaign in Nevada.
