A majority of states still do not clearly protect lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, or LGBT, people from discrimination in employment. As many as 28% of LGBT people report being denied career advancement because of their sexual orientation, and 1 in 4 transgender people report being fired from a job they already have simply because of their transgender status.
