Gordon William Schumacher

Gordon William Schumacher died June 30, 2013, of natural causes. He is preceded in death by his wife Nicki and his father Albert and mother Opal, in-Laws Norman and Anna French, brothers-in-law Bob Yenney and Chuck Thompson, along with multiple aunts and uncles. He is survived by his sister Margaret Thompson, sons Albert (Annette), Andrew (Joanne), Gordy (Stacy), and Garrett. He is also survived by his grandchildren Alix O’Neill, William, Jacob, Patrick, Max, Morgan, and Madeline and four great-grandchildren.

Gordon was born July 12, 1943, in Riverton, Wyo. He attended grade school, junior high school and high school in Riverton. He excelled as an athlete while there and played football, basketball and baseball. After high school, Gordon attended Barber College in Salt Lake City, Utah. He worked in barber shops in Meeteese and Laramie, Wyo. He attended the University of Wyoming where he met Nicki French. They were soon married and soon started their lives together. He owned a barber shop in Riverton, Wyo. He soon started mining and mined for years in Wyoming before moving to Winnemucca, Nev., where he eventually retired.

Gordon loved the outdoors and took a special pride passing down his love to his kids and grandkids. He was a coach to many and inspired the youth with his experience. His children benefitted from his knowledge of gamesmanship and sportsmanship. He instilled hard work and character through his actions and words of advice. He was passionate about the class of 1961 at Riverton High School in Riverton, Wyo., and in lieu of flowers or memorials he wished donations to go to the Class of 61 Scholarship Fund Care of Fred Kilfoy, 344 N. 5th St. East, Riverton, Wyoming 82501.

    Gordon, a dedicated Obama supporter and member of Humboldt Dems, has moved on and is once again with his beloved Nicki. Our hopes are that they can now happily share eternity together.
