My family moved to Paradise Valley, Nevada, 10 years ago to start a small ranch and farm in the heart of Buckaroo Country. My wife and I left our careers in Las Vegas to join them in building a life that was sustainable by raising our own livestock and growing our own food.
Our family has invested everything we own in this community. However, we have discovered that Winnemucca Farms sold a very large amount of water rights to Las Vegas that will affect the streams, creeks, and water table that have supported our rural community’s lives and futures since 1860. I want our state engineers to evaluate the long-term effects of this backroom deal.
That’s why I created a petition on SignOn.org to the Nevada Legislature and Governor Brian Sandoval, which says:
Stop the water transfer from northern Nevada farms and ranches to fill Bellagio fountains and water golf courses in Las Vegas! We demand a state investigation of long term-effects of this water transfer.
