Catherine sets out clear contrast between herself and her opponent, Congressman Joe Heck, who supports privatizing Social Security and turning Medicare into a voucher program

Former Nevada Attorney General and U.S. Senate candidate Catherine Cortez Masto joined Northern Nevada seniors to highlight how she is the candidate who will fight for them in the Senate and work to protect programs like Social Security and Medicare. Cortez Masto discussed the clear contrast between her and her opponent, Congressman Joe Heck, who supports privatizing Social Security and turning seniors’ retirement over to the whims of Wall Street, as well as turning Medicare into a voucher program.

“Nevada’s seniors have worked hard for their retirement and we must protect and strengthen the benefits that they have paid into their entire lives,” said Cortez Masto. “That doesn’t mean turning Social Security over to Wall Street or turning Medicare into a voucher program, like Joe Heck would do. Joe Heck’s top priority is doing what’s best for his Party in Washington and the Koch brothers, not Nevada seniors. Unlike Heck, I will fight for Nevada’s seniors in Washington.”

“Catherine Cortez Masto is, without question, the candidate who will work for Nevada’s seniors in the U.S. Senate,” said Wendy Boszak, President of Women of Washoe – WOW, a chapter of the Alliance for Retired Americans. “Catherine worked hard as Nevada’s Attorney General to protect seniors in our state, and we know that she will continue to fight for us and the programs we rely on in the Senate. Joe Heck’s supports privatizing Social Security and turning Medicare into a voucher program. His Alliance voting record in 2015 was a dismal 10% – showing that 90% of the time he voted against the best interest of seniors. The Alliance for Retired Americans and its 4.4 million members support Catherine Cortez Masto because we know she will work for us.”
